LEWISTON, ID – A 56-year-old Weippe man was killed and a 49-year-old Weippe woman was injured in a one-vehicle crash on US 95 this afternoon. According to the Idaho State Police, their Ford Explorer was traveling northbound near milepost 306 when it crashed at approximately 1:09 p.m.

“The preliminary investigation indicates the Explorer appears to have lost control, struck a guardrail and then a jersey barrier which caused it to rollover. The female was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital. The male was pronounced deceased on scene. Evidence indicates that seatbelts were not in use at the time of the crash,” a press release says.

Traffic on US 95 was blocked in the northbound lane for approximately three hours to allow emergency responders to assist those involved and clear the scene.

The next of kin has been notified. This incident remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

“The Idaho State Police would like to thank the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office, Lewiston Fire Department and the Idaho Transportation Department for their assistance,” ISP says.
