MOSCOW, ID – The Moscow Fire Department is continuing to investigate a fire at the Oxford House in the early morning hours of March 19th. The residential structure in the 800 block of Bitterroot Street was heavily damaged. There were six people in the building at the time of the fire, which was reported at approximately 2:20 a.m. There were no injuries and the residents were assisted by the American Red Cross.

“At the present time we have reason to believe that the area of origin has been identified to be on the exterior of the residence. While the cause of the fire is still undetermined, presently interviews as well as other investigative resources are working to possibly determine the cause of this incident,” Fire Chief Brian Nickerson says. “We would like to thank those that occupied the residence as well as neighbors who [have] been very helpful so far and we look forward to possibly having a conclusion in the near future.”

Upon arriving on the scene fire personnel encountered heavy fire conditions in the front portion of the building with flames extending through the front roof area. Fire Department personnel began fire suppression efforts upon arrival. All occupants were already evacuated. Mutual Aid was requested from Pullman Fire Department for an engine for personnel. The fire was confined to the building of origin, a previous press release says.
