CLARKSTON, WA – Eastern Washington Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05) hosted three town hall events today in Colfax, Clarkston, and Pomeroy. Details and photos from these public events, as well as a preview of tomorrow’s schedule, are below.
Hearing From Eastern Washington Farmers and Ranchers
Cathy began her day in Colfax where she hosted a unique town hall event for farmers and ranchers to hear their thoughts and concerns regarding the upcoming Farm Bill. This is the piece of legislation Congress works on every five years to reauthorize critical programs that support agriculture in Eastern Washington and across the country. At the event, attendees shared their perspectives on issues like crop insurance, expanding market access, protecting the Columbia River System, prioritizing trade agreements that benefit America and the American farmer, and much more.
“Conversations with Cathy” Town Hall Series
Following her Farm Bill town hall in Colfax, Cathy headed to Clarkston for a “Conversations with Cathy” town hall at Clarkston High School. She was joined by members of the community, as well as many of the school’s seniors. At the event, both community members and students shared their concerns and asked questions about a variety of topics, including: the dangers of fentanyl, the negative impacts of social media, the need to balance the federal budget, strengthening Medicare and Social Security, securing the southern border, and everything in between.
Cathy finished the day with another “Conversations with Cathy” town hall event at Pomeroy High School. The event was well-attended by many constituents, including a great number of students who brought attention to many topics like the importance of protecting our dams, the impact social media is having on mental health, the need to stop the flow of fentanyl, and lots of others.
Tomorrow’s Event Schedule
Tomorrow, Cathy will be in Walla Walla, Connell, and Ritzville.
