LEWISTON, ID – School bond and levy elections will be held in 40 out of 44 Idaho counties tomorrow. The elections will take place at polling locations across the state, with polls open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

In north-central Idaho, the Lewiston Independent School District #1 is holding an election for a five-year supplemental levy at a rate of 0.00395 (0.395%) of market value for assessment purposes, or $395 per $100,000 of taxable assessed value, per year, based on current conditions.

The proposed levy replaces an existing one that expires on June 30, 2024, and that currently costs $420 per $100,000 of taxable assessed value. Thus, if the proposed levy is approved the tax per $100,000 of taxable assessed value is expected to decrease by $25 per $100,000 of taxable assessed value.

The Genesee Joint School District #282 will be asking voters to renew its one-year supplemental levy of $1,185,000. The estimated average annual cost to the taxpayer is a tax of $442.46 per $100,000 of taxable assessed value ($4.42 per 1,000), per year, based on current conditions. Currently, the District collects a supplemental levy authorized in the amount of $1,185,000 which will expire when the proposed levy ($1,185,000) goes into effect on July 1, 2023.

The Highland Joint School District #305 is asking voters to approve a $499,000 supplemental maintenance and operations levy. The estimated average annual cost to the taxpayer is $248.72 per $100,000 of taxable assessed value, based on current conditions. The proposed levy replaces an existing levy that will expire on June 30th and currently costs the same as the proposed levy.

The Kendrick Joint School District #283 is proposing a School Plant Facilities Reserve Fund Levy in the amount of up to $60,000 for the fiscal year beginning July 1st and continuing each year for five years. The estimated average annual cost is $28.70 per $100,000 of taxable assessed value, per year, based on current conditions. The District’s current school plant facilities levy will expire on June 30th. If this proposed levy is approved, the tax per $100,000 of taxable assessed value is expected to decrease.

In addition, the Kendrick School District is proposing a supplemental levy in the amount of $750,000 per year for two years, beginning July 1st. The estimated average annual cost to the taxpayer is $358.79 per $100,000 of taxable assessed value, per year, based on current conditions. The proposed levy replaces an existing one that will expire on June 30th, and that currently costs $485.84 per $100,000 of taxable assessed value. If the proposed levy is approved, the tax per $100,000 of taxable assessed value is expected to decrease the tax by $127.05 per $100,000 of taxable assessed value.

Voters must reside in the county and school district for 30 days before the election; must be 18 years of age or older, and must pre-register if there has been a name or address change since the last election.
