| GREENWOOD, IN – Silas Bennion became the latest LC State Men’s Basketball player to be named Academic All-District by College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) on Tuesday. He is the fifth Warrior to earn the honor in program history.
“Extremely excited and happy for Silas,” Head Coach Austin Johnson said. “A lot of focus and time management is necessary to meet the demands to be elite as a student-athlete. Silas has been a phenomenal student and diligent worker during his time at LC and this is great recognition for his efforts. It is a further example of the special types of student-athletes that LC attracts and produces.”
Bennion leads LC State in assists (98) and steals (38) so far this season and is the lone Warrior to start all 28 games. The sophomore is averaging 9.9 points and 4.5 rebounds per game heading into the Cascade Conference tournament. Bennion maintains a 3.61 cumulative GPA as a Business Communications major.
A student-athlete must have a 3.50 cumulative GPA and be a starter or key reserve to be eligible for CSC Academic All-District. No student-athlete is eligible until he has completed one full calendar year at his current institution and been on a college roster in that sport for two years.
