Firefighters Quickly Knock Down Lewiston Fire

LEWISTON, ID – Lewiston Firefighters were dispatched at approximately 10:42 a.m. this morning to a structure fire in the 3300 block of 5th Street.

“First arriving units reported smoke from a single story residential structure. Fire was found to be in the basement and made an offensive attack that quickly extinguished the fire,” a press release states. “Salvage and overhaul of the building was completed prior to turning the structure over to the owner. The fire is currently under investigation.”

Lewiston Fire responded with three engines, three medic units, three chief vehicles, and 17 firefighters. Clearwater Paper Fire responded with a Special Response Vehicle with two personnel; and Asotin County Fire District #1 responded with one engine.

The fire was knocked down at 10:56 a.m.; firefighters finished fighting the fire at approximately 12:10 a.m.

There were no civilian or firefighter injuries and damage is estimated at $50,000.

The American Red Cross was called to assist the family’s owner.
