The sentencing hearing for a teen convicted, along with his father, of killing a Lewiston man, has been delayed.

During a status conference hearing for 18-year-old Demetri Ewing last week in 2nd District Court, defense attorneys and the Nez Perce County prosecutors agreed to continue the sentencing, with a status conference hearing set for Feb. 23.

Ewing was charged in the shooting death of Samuel Johns on Jan. 8, 2021, along with his father, Clyde Ewing. He was 16 years old at the time of the murder.

Demetri Ewing was convicted of first-degree murder April 22 after a nine-day trial.

Clyde Ewing was sentenced in December to life in prison without parole.
