
UPDATE on 01/10/23 from the ISP: On January 8, 2023, the 73-year-old male in the Chevy van succumbed to injuries in the local hospital. Next of kin was notified.
MYRTLE, ID – A 73-year-old man suffered severe injuries in a collision on US 12 at the junction of State Highway 3 near Arrow Bridge early this afternoon. According to the Idaho State Police, rescue personnel responded to the two-vehicle head-on collision at about 12:39 p.m.
“A yellow Chevy van was traveling eastbound on US 12. A Western Star log truck was traveling westbound on US 12. The Chevy van failed to maintain its lane and collided head-on with the log truck. The driver of the Chevy, 73-year-old male, suffered severe injuries and was transported via ground ambulance to a nearby hospital. The passenger of the Chevy van was transported to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries. The driver of the log truck suffered no injuries. Evidence suggests neither of the occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash,” the release says.
The highway was closed and reduced to one lane for approximately three hours.
