OLYMPIA, WA – Litter crews from the Washington State Department of Ecology collected 166 tons of litter in October and November, equivalent to the collective weight of about 74 killer whales. Officials remind Washingtonians to “dunk” trash in proper receptacles and to properly secure vehicle loads.

Ecology litter crews and their partners at the Adopt A Highway Maintenance Corporation were hard at work late this fall cleaning state highways. They ask drivers to use a litter bag in your vehicle, properly secure your cargo to avoid losing anything and potentially causing a crash, and talk with others to help them do the same.
