MOSCOW, ID – Law enforcement officials say the murders of four University of Idaho students earlier this month remains their highest priority and investigators will continue to work through the holiday weekend.

The Idaho Governor’s Office has approved an expenditure of $1 million to assist in finding the killer of Ethan Chapin, Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, and Xana Kernodle in the early morning hours of November 13th. Autopsies confirmed the victims were stabbed multiple times with a fixed-blade knife which has not been located.

At a press conference this afternoon, officials said they have collected 103 pieces of physical evidence, over 4,000 photographs, and multiple 3-D scans of the scene; they have received over 1,000 tips; and conducted over 150 interviews.

That is Moscow Police Chief Jim Fry.

Meanwhile, officials say two of the victims were found on the second floor and two were discovered on the third floor of the residence. Law enforcement refuses to say if the killer went to the first floor of the home where the two surviving roommates were located. They were uninjured.

Fry says investigators believe there is still evidence to be gathered and asks that people continue to come forward with tips.

Deputy Moscow City Administrator Tyler Palmer became emotional as he spoke to the media.

Idaho State Police Colonel Kedrick Wills says the best way to honor the victims and their families is to conduct this investigation thoroughly.
