The man who was found deceased October 31sst along the Clearwater River near Cherrylane, has been identified as 79-year-old Don Vieira, of Cameron, Montana.
Vieira’s body was discovered after deputies from the Nez Perce Sheriff’s Office, Idaho State Police and Nez Perce Tribal police responded to an abandoned vehicle along U.S. Highway 12. They found a dog and fishing gear in the vehicle which appeared to have been abandoned for some time. A search of the river turned up Vieira’s body.
Nez Perce County Coroner Josh Hall determined the cause of death was drowning.
