A candlelight vigil which was being considered for tomorrow (Wed) for the four University of Idaho students killed Sunday morning at an off-campus residence is being rescheduled because numerous students have already left the Moscow campus.

Blaine Eckles, Vice Provost for Student Affairs and Dean of Students, says the vigil will be held after the Thanksgiving break.

Moscow Police responded to a call on King Road at about noon on Sunday for a report of an unconscious individual. Upon arrival, officers discovered the students were deceased. They have been identified as 21-year-old Madison Mogen of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; 21-year-old Kaylee Goncalves of Rathdrum, Idaho; 20-year-old Ethan Chapin of Conway, Washington; and 20-year-old Xana Kernodle of Avondale, Arizona.

Investigators believe that an “edged weapon such as a knife” was used; autopsies are scheduled to be completed later this week. An updated press release states there are no suspects in custody but based on the preliminary investigation, it is believed to be an “isolated, targeted attack and there is no imminent threat to the community at large.”

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Moscow Police Department at 208-883-7054.
