A jury in Walla Walla has awarded $1.88 million dollars to landowners affected by the building of the Ten Mile Bridge along Snake River Road in Asotin County.

The Lewiston Tribune reports Richard and Shannon Eggleston, former owners of Aardvark’s boat rental business, have had a long-running civil case dating back two decades against Asotin County and its Public Works Department over the project.

In the latest case, the Eggleston’s attorney successfully argued for damages from the construction, saying the county agreed to keep the Egglestons’ business driveway open, put in a new water line and retain the new slopes coming onto their land from the project.

However, access to Aardvark’s was cut off and the couple had to sell the boats in 2011. In addition, the slopes were not retained and stormwater from the project further damaged their property. (Lewiston Tribune)
