accident

One person was injured and a brush fire was started following a single-vehicle crash along Down River Road near the Washington/Idaho state lines between Lewiston and Clarkston Monday afternoon.

The Lewiston Fire Department responded to reports of a vehicle fire along the road just east of the state line at around 4:20 p.m. Monday. When crews arrived, they found a truck and the surrounding brush were fully engulfed with fire. The truck had run off the roadway and into the ditch on the north side of the road.

The unidentified driver was transported by ambulance to the hospital with injuries sustained from the impact of the crash; but sustained no injuries from the fire. The truck was a total loss.

The blaze was under control after about an hour, and the incident remains under investigation.
