The sentencing for a man convicted of killing a Lewiston man has been continued again.

Clyde Ewing was scheduled to be sentenced Thursday by 2nd District Judge Jay Gaskill at the Nez Perce County Courthouse, but the proceeding was continued again pending the completion of a mitigation report.

Ewing’s attorney said the mitigation report should be completed within two weeks, but asked Gaskill for extra time so the prosecution and defense could review the material before the sentencing. Sentencing is now scheduled for October 20th.

Ewing was convicted of first-degree murder in May for the shooting death of Samuel Johns on January 8th, 2021. Ewing’s son, Demetri Ewing, who was 16 years old at the time of the shooting, was convicted in April of the same charge.

Demetri Ewing’s sentencing is also scheduled for October 20th. (Lewiston Tribune)
