Mariners avoid sweep, beat A’s

Jarred Kelenic homered and Adam Frazier had two hits and 3 runs-batted-in as the Seattle Mariners beat the Oakland Athletics 9-5 yesterday (Thur) in Oakland to avoid being swept in the series.

Matthew Boyd picked up the win in relief for Seattle. The lefthander didn’t allow any runs on one hit over 2 innings.

The Mariners maintained their four game lead over Baltimore for the third American League Wildcard spot with 13 games left in the regular season.

Seattle begins a 3-game series in Kansas City tonight (Fri) against the Royals. First pitch is set for 5:10 p.m. with live coverage in the LC Valley on 93.1 FM and 1350 AM KRLC.
