Teen injured after collision with school bus near Endicott

The Whitman County Sheriff’s Office and emergency crews from Colfax responded to a two-vehicle, head-on collision yesterday (Wed) morning on Endicott Road one mile east of Endicott.

The crash involved a school bus and a late-model passenger vehicle, which rolled over during the crash, leaving the driver trapped inside.

According to a news release, the 17-year-old male driver was traveling west and fell asleep at the wheel, drifting into oncoming traffic. The bus driver attempted to avoid the crash, but her efforts were unsuccessful.

Emergency crews spent about 30 minutes extracting the driver from the wreckage. The teenager from Diamond injured his arm and was transported to a Spokane hospital by LifeFlight.

There were no passengers on the school bus at the time of the collision and the bus driver was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
