Rain, cooler temperatures and higher relative humidity have aided wildland firefighters across the region.

The Williams Creek Fire burning 5 miles west of Orogrande in the Idaho County backcountry is just over 16,084 acres. A closure order remains in effect for roads in the area, but fire managers are looking at options to reduce or rescind the order. The blaze is now listed at 75 percent contained.

The Twin Lakes Fire about 23 miles southwest of Elk City in the Gospel Hump Wilderness is estimated to be about 1,000 acres and there is currently a closure order in place for the Square Mountain area.

The more than 1,800 acre Lower Twin Fire burning in brush and timber about 20 miles northeast of Headquarters is burning on 1,856 acres in brush and timber. No containment estimate has been released and closure orders around the fire remain in place.

And the Caledonia Fire 18 miles northeast of the Kelly Fork work center on the North Fork ranger district is now listed at more than 1,400 acres and closure orders are still in place.

The regional weather forecast calls for more wet and cool conditions over the next few days which should help keep fires from growing much, and allow crews to engage the blazes more directly.
