Mother, daughter charged in murder case make initial court appearances

The mother and daughter charged with first-degree murder made their initial court appearances yesterday (Wed) in Lewiston’s 2nd District Court.

81-year-old Kay Morrison and her 54-year-old daughter Kimberly Morrison appeared via ZOOM where the pair are accused of killing 87-year-old Kenneth Morrison – the father of Kimberly and ex-husband of Kay Morrison.

According to court documents, an investigation allegedly showed the two played a part in drugging, suffocating and burning the body of Kenneth Morrison in their home, leading to the first-degree murder charges.

Authorities say the pair have allegedly confessed to the crime.

Both are being held on $1 million bonds. The two will have a status conference hearing Aug. 29th and a preliminary hearing Aug. 31st.

The maximum penalty for the charges are life in prison or the death penalty and/or a $50,000 fine. (Lewiston Tribune)
