Work to clear Selway River Road begins

road-work-ahead-2

Work to remove debris from a rock slide that closed the Selway River Road is expected to begin today (Thur).

Crews with the Kidder-Harris Highway District will first open an emergency lane on the road to allow limited passage for traffic. The road has been blocked since Friday afternoon when the slide occurred.

The highway district had been waiting to begin work until the Forest Service finished conducting an archaeological review of the rocks.

The material from the rock slide will be hauled to a dump site at the O’Hara Campground, about 6 miles away.
