Capt. Jeff Klone, one of the candidates for the Lewiston police chief position, has withdrawn his application, but the other two finalists will be available for a “meet and greet” this Monday afternoon with the community.

In a news release, Klone, the only local candidate, said he has decided to opt out as an applicant for the top job and will remain in his current role at the Lewiston Police Department. The remaining contenders are Mark Goodman, of the Pasadena Police Department in California, and Jason Kuzik, of the Henderson Police Department in Nevada.

Interviews are scheduled with panels made up of residents, Lewiston City Council members, surrounding police agencies, the Fraternal Order of Police, and city of Lewiston employees. The day will conclude with an open house from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Lewiston Community Center, 1424 Main St.
