In recent years the department has seen an increase in the use of aerial displays, which are illegal to ignite under Idaho law.

Fire Chief Travis Myklebust says if it goes up and blows up – its not legal.

As in year’s past, the Lewiston Fire and Police departments are working together to educate the public about fireworks and the dangers they pose.

From an enforcement standpoint, Lewiston Police will make contact with individuals engaged in lighting illegal fireworks and confiscate them. However, offenders could also face a misdemeanor charge and a fine of up to $999.00.
