A suspected burglar was shot at a Clarkston business Tuesday night and two men were arrested in relation to the incident.

According to the Clarkston Police Department, 40-year-old William Allen of Clarkston, and 59-year-old Vernon Calhoun, were both charged with second-degree burglary and taken into custody.

The alleged burglary took place at around midnight Tuesday on the 1300 block of Bridge Street. Police were notified after a witness reported seeing two suspects inside the secure area of the business. The business owner also reportedly saw the suspects remotely on surveillance cameras.

Calhoun fled the scene before officers arrived and Allen was confronted by an employee who was armed with a handgun and was on the phone with authorities. Allen allegedly attacked the employee and during the altercation, Allen was shot in the arm and fled.

Lewiston Police later apprehended Allen and he was transferred to the Asotin County Jail. (Lewiston Tribune)
