Forest restoration work underway on Craig Mountain

Approximately 1,100 acres of forest restoration work will be completed on the Craig Mountain Wildlife Management Area following last year’s Snake River Complex fire.

Forest restoration operations are currently underway and expected to last through this summer. Work will include removal of dead and dying timber, re-planting of conifers, mastication and thinning of some heavily stocked forest stands.

Craig Mountain visitors should be on the lookout for increased log truck traffic and are asked to use caution when traveling to, from and around the Craig Mountain Area. Visitors are also advised to avoid areas where active logging is occurring.

Updates regarding additional fire restoration projects will be posted throughout the summer. Contact the Idaho Fish and Game Clearwater Office in Lewiston for more information at (208) 799-5010.
