Clyde Ewing has been found guilty of first-degree murder on the fifth day of his trial. The jury deliberated for about two hours to reach the verdict this afternoon.
Ewing and his son, Demetri, were convicted in the shooting death of Samuel Johns on Jan. 8, 2021, at 1706 Seventh Ave. in Lewiston. Demetri, who was 16 years old at the time of the shooting, was found guilty on April 22. The two were tried separately for the same charge of first-degree murder. A status conference for Clyde Ewing is scheduled for Thursday and his sentencing is set for July 21. Demetri Ewing’s sentencing is scheduled for June 16.
The prosecution stated that Clyde and Demetri Ewing entered the Johns residence the night of the murder and shot and killed Johns over a dispute about Clyde Ewing’s missing bag that belonged to his late father. (Lewiston Tribune)
