LC holds on to win in Day 1 of NAIA National Opening Round Tourney

The top-seed Lewis-Clark State baseball team jumped out to 6-0 lead and held on for a 9-7 win over the University of British Columbia in the first day of the NAIA National Opening Round Baseball Tournament presented by Avista at Harris Field last night (Mon).

Nick Seamons

Sophomore Nick Seamons had two hits, including a two out 3-run homerun in the Warriors’ five run first inning and LC ultimately scored all 9 runs in the game with two down.

Trent Sellers

Junior Trent Sellers improved to 12-0 on the year. The Kennewick righthander allowed 9 hits and four runs over 6 innings with 6 strikeouts. Junior righthander Greg Blackman pitched the final 1 1/3 innings to earn his fourth save of the season.

The Warriors advance to the winner’s bracket where they’ll face Doane of Nebraska today (Tues) at 2:30 p.m.

Three games are scheduled for Tuesday starting with an elimination game between #2 seed Vanguard of California and #5 seed St. Katherine of California at 11 a.m.. And at 6 p.m. British Columbia will square-off against the winner of Vanguard and St. Katherine.
