Randy Weaver, who was part of the deadly standoff with federal authorities at north Idaho’s Ruby Ridge 30 years ago, has died.

The Associated Press reports his death was announced via a Facebook post by his daughter. He was 74.

Weaver is known for his 10-day standoff with authorities who were investigating the alleged illegal selling of two sawed-off shotguns to federal agents.

Weaver’s son Samuel and his wife Vicki Weaver were shot and killed and Randy Weaver and family friend Kevin Harris were also shot during the incident.

Federal Deputy U.S. Marshall William Degan was also killed in the exchange of gunfire.

Randy Weaver and Harris were eventually arrested after surrendering. Randy Weaver was acquitted of the most serious charges and Harris was acquitted of all charges.

The surviving members of the Weaver family filed a wrongful death lawsuit and the federal government awarded Randy Weaver a $100,000 settlement and his three daughters $1 million each in 1995.
