Mariners avoid sweep in beating Whitesox

Mitch Haniger and Jered Kelenic both homered and combined to drive in four runs as the Seattle Mariners avoided a three-game sweep by beating the Whitesox 5-1 yesterday (Thurs) in Chicago.

Logan Gilbert picked up his first win of the season. The righthander allowed one unearned run on four hits with 4 strikeouts and no walks over 5 innings.

Seattle will meet division rival Houston in its home-opening 3-game series this weekend at T-Mobile Park.

Tonight’s (Fri) first pitch is set for 6:40 p.m. with live coverage in the LC Valley on FM 93.1 and 1350 AM KRLC and in the upper Clearwater Valley on AM 1300 KLER.
