Road work has resumed on 2.3 miles of U.S. Highway 95 between Winchester and Culdesac.

The Idaho Transportation Department is moving into the third phase of its five phase project to add passing lanes aimed at improving safety and traffic flow through the canyon.

Rock blasting and excavation will be required during construction of the new passing lane and the work is expected to last through the fall of 2022.

One lane will be open in each direction during most of the construction work. However, during rock blasting and cleanup, the highway will be completely closed for one to two hours at a time. ITD officials say blasting will be restricted to avoid morning and late afternoon peak travel times, school bus times and holidays.
