Mountain View School District levy fails, others pass

Voters in the Grangeville-based Mountain View School District voted against a $1.7 million supplemental levy Tuesday.

60 percent of voters, or 1,753 voted no while 1,166 were in favor.

The levy makes up 40% of the district’s budget and officials warned that budget cuts would be necessary if it failed. Supplemental levies pay for the expenses of maintaining and operating schools in a district.

Meanwhile, all other school district levies in the region appear to have passed.

Patrons approved levies in the Culdesac, Highland, Orofino, Potlatch and Troy school districts. (Lewiston Tribune)
