Officials have identified the victim of Sunday’s fatal car crash into the Snake River near the Interstate Bridge as 72-year-old Gloria Heintz, of Lewiston.
Heintz’s Acura SUV apparently left the Levee Bypass in Lewiston on Sunday morning just north of the Interstate Bridge, and proceeded over the levee and into the Snake River.
Lewiston Police and Lewiston Fire and Rescue were first on scene and officers in the water were unable to free Heintz before the vehicle sank.
The Nez Perce County dive team located the vehicle which was removed from the river but Heintz was deceased.
The Nez Perce County sheriff’s office is investigating the crash because the vehicle landed in the river, outside the city limits. (Lewiston Tribune)
