Region reports big spike in COVID infections

The number of coronavirus cases are rising again in the north central Idaho and southeastern Washington region.

Health officials in the Public Health – Idaho North Central District say Monday’s case count of 188 new infections was the highest daily increase of COVID-19 cases since Sept. 7th.

Nez Perce County had the highest number of new cases in the district Monday adding 72; Latah County had 65; Idaho County added 31 new cases; Clearwater County had 14; and Lewis County reported 6 new virus infections Monday.

In southeastern Washington: Whitman County had the region’s highest number of new cases with 86; Asotin County saw its numbers climb by 57; and Garfield County reported 3 new coronavirus cases.

There were no COVID-related deaths reported in the region Monday. (Lewiston Tribune)
