Chanse Eke led a balanced scoring attack and the Lewiston High boys basketball team beat Moscow 60-to-53 yesterday in the semi-final round of the 9th annual Avista Holiday Tournament at Lewis-Clark State College. The Bengals improve to 8-and-0 on the year and will meet unbeaten Lapwai in the tournament’s championship game this afternoon at 4 p.m.
Meanwhile, the Lewiston High girls held on for a dramatic 48-to-45 win over Richland in their semi-final game. Katy Wessells had 16 points as the 7-and-4 Bengals punched their ticket to the Avista title game where they will face Post Falls today at 2:30 p.m. Both LHS games will be broadcast live locally from the P1FCU Activity Center on The River 105.1 FM and free online at bengalsports.com.
In other tournament action: The Lapwi boys advanced to the title game with a 76-52 win over Clarkston. The Lewiston Junior Varsity boys got past Grangeville 61-to-41; and Annie Wright of Tacoma beat the Kellogg boys 79-to-68.
On the girls side: Post Falls advanced to the championship game with a 69-to-55 win over the Lapwai girls; Grangeville downed the Moscow girls 50-to-40; and Soda Springs picked up their first tourney win by beating the Clarkston girls 48-to-44.
