Two arrested in Whitman County following drive-by shooting incident

Two people were arrested following a report of a drive-by shooting Tuesday night near Pullman.

The Whitman County Sheriff’s Office was notified of an aggressive driving incident near the intersection of 195 and Davis Way. Shortly after the original call, a second call was placed to 911 where the caller reported being shot at by a passenger in the suspect vehicle.

Authorities were able to quickly make contact with the victim who was driving with his family, including two small children at the time of the incident, and obtain relevant descriptive information about the vehicle and suspects involved. The vehicle and its two occupants were stopped and detained a short time later on Airport Road by WSU Police Officers.

Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office were granted a search warrant and located two firearms, one of which was consistent with the type and caliber of firearm believed to be used at the time of the shooting.

26-year-old Jamil Fields, and 24-year-old Janine Ludwig both of Pullman were later booked into the Whitman County Jail on related charges. Fields is facing charges of 2nd Degree Assault 2nd Degree and Drive by Shooting, while Ludwig faces charges of Drive by Shooting and Reckless Driving.
