Police say they exchanged gunfire with a suspect during a shooting yesterday (Mon) at a shopping mall in Boise that killed two people and injured four — including an officer.

At a news conference last (Monday) night, Boise Police Chief Ryan Lee said the shooting was reported about 1:50 p.m. — as well as a report that one person was “shot and down” at that time.

When officers arrived, they spotted someone who matched the description of the suspect.

There was an exchange of gunfire that ensued shortly thereafter, resulting in the officer’s injury, as well as the unnamed suspect being taken into custody.

About a quarter of a mile away, officers closed part of a road near a busy intersection so they could investigate a second crime scene related to the shooting incident.

In a news release police said the suspect was in critical condition at a hospital and that the officer who was hurt had been treated and released. Authorities didn’t release any other information about the victims or the suspect, saying the investigation is ongoing. (AP)
