Idaho’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 2.9% in September, unchanged from August.
The state’s labor force grew by 1,270 people to 906,191 – the second largest over-the-month increase this year. Despite the increase, the labor force participation rate decreased by 0.1 percentage points to 62.4%.
Total employment grew to 880,283, up 0.2%, while total unemployment dropped 2.4% to 25,908.
Industries that experienced solid growth included information at 5.3%; arts, entertainment and recreation at 3.7%; and construction at 1.9%.
Total unemployment dropped 52.7% from September 2020 to 25,908 as out-of-work Idahoans returned to the job force, pushing the number of people working up 3.1% to 880,283.
