LC golfers perform well at Bushnell Invite; Cole Olsen named league runner of the week

Senior Alexandra Schmidt and the Lewis-Clark State Men’s Golf team both captured titles in the Bushnell Invitational, which wrapped up Monday at the Emerald Valley Country Club in Creswell, Oregon.

Schmidt, who grabbed the women’s individual lead with an opening round of 71 on Sunday, followed it up with a 76 Monday for a two-day 3-over-par 147 total to win by six shots.

Meanwhile, the LC State men’s team, entering the final round trailing Willamette by a stroke, fired a 290 over the last 18 holes to win by three strokes.

And senior Cole Oslen has been named the Cascade Conference Men’s Runner of the Week.

Olsen placed fifth with a time of 24:33 to lead the Warriors to a third place finish on their home course Saturday at the Inland Empire Championships. The Clearwater, Idaho native was the top NAIA runner, finishing behind four NCAA Division I opponents.

Warrior Cross Country will be back next for the Cascade Conference Championships in Klamath Falls, Oregon on Friday, Nov. 5th and will be competing in hopes of advancing to the NAIA National Championship on Nov. 19th.
