One killed, two injured in collision near Lapwai

One person was killed and two others were injured following a two-vehicle collision near Lapwai along U.S. Highway 95 Wednesday morning.

Idaho State Police say the crash near mile marker 295 involved a Honda CRV and a Kia sedan after one of the vehicles crossed the center line and the two cars collided at around 11:05 a.m.

The female driver of the Honda, a 56-year-old woman from Culdesac, was the only occupant. She was transported to a hospital via ground ambulance. Two people were in the Kia. The male passenger, a 79-year-old man from Washington, D.C., was also transported to a nearby hospital by ground ambulance. The driver of the Kia, a 78-year-old woman from Washington, D.C. was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The names of those involved have not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Traffic was blocked in both directions for nearly an hour and the incident remains under investigation. (Idaho State Police)
