A Meet the Candidates video is now available for public viewing with candidates for city council, mayor and school board in the city of Lewiston as well as arguments for and against Proposition 1.

The non-partisan video is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of the Lewis Clark Valley and the Lewis Clark Valley Chamber of Commerce. The league and chamber normally sponsor a candidate forum, but because of logistical issues created with 13 candidates for city council, three for mayor, six for school board, and presenting both sides of Proposition 1, a video was chosen over a live event.

All candidates and representatives from both sides of Proposition 1, which would change Lewiston’s form of government from a city manager to a strong mayor system, were invited to participate. Of this group, only one city council candidate, Luke Blount, declined to participate. Another council candidate, Heather Rogers, was ill and unable to make her time.

Candidates had a maximum of 5 minutes to explain why they’re running for office and what do they see as the most pressing issues facing Lewiston or the Lewiston School District. (LWV)
