The suspect in a deadly shooting over the weekend in Pullman says he acted in self-defense.

According to an affidavit from the Pullman Police Department, 23-year-old George Harris reportedly told investigating officers he had been “jumped” by assailants and fired to defend himself against the attackers.

23-year-old Liban Barre and 22-year-old Brandon Gray were both shot during the incident. Barre succumbed to his injury at Pullman Regional Hospital, while Gray is listed in serious, but stable condition at a Spokane Hospital.

Harris, who turned himself in, was charged with second-degree assault. He made his preliminary appearance Monday in Whitman County Superior Court in Colfax and was being held on a $10,000 bond. If the prosecutor’s office files charges this week, Harris will appear in court again Friday. (Lewiston Tribune)
