The Lewiston City Council narrowly voted to reject a new mask mandate aimed at slowing the recent surge in coronavirus cases in the region.
Councilor John Bradbury’s motion, which was supported by fellow councilor Kathy Schroeder, failed 3-2.
The vote came after more than an hour of public comments, with the vast majority speaking against the mandate.
Mayor Mike Collins joined Councilors Kevin Kelly and John Pernsteiner in voting no.
Two councilors, Bob Blakey and Carrie Miller were unable to attend the meeting. (Lewiston Tribune)
