The Idaho Lottery’s annual, Public School fundraiser, Scratch for Schools, is back with in-person events across the state on Tuesday afternoon.

Locally, 35 schools in north central Idaho will take part at the Lewis-Clark State College Activity Center in Lewiston Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Statewide, the Lottery is hosting a total of 14 events – the most in Lottery history – with more than 400 schools registered to participate in the annual fundraising event to benefit public education. It’s the 21st edition of Scratch for Schools, a program that has returned over $1.4 million to benefit public education in Idaho.

Organizers call it the fastest five-minute fundraiser in Idaho! Each of the schools will compete for the title of fastest scratching school and win cash for their classroom or school needs like playground equipment, books for their library, or computer learning software.

Each participating school receives an entire pack of Scratch Tickets and five minutes to scratch as many tickets as possible. Nearly 100 administrators, teachers, PTO members, and staff members simultaneously scratch thousands of Lottery ticket for their schools. The fastest scratching schools win additional prizes and advance to a final round. Schools could win as much as $600.

During the event, schools will scratch a combined 10,000 tickets.  (Idaho Lottery)
