Idaho Board of Ed to hear update on covid-19 delta variant surge

The Idaho State Board of Education will hold a virtual special Board meeting on Friday, September 24 at 3 p.m. pacific time.

The purpose of the meeting is to hear an update on the status of the COVID-19 Delta variant surge from Dr. Kathryn Turner, Deputy State Epidemiologist at the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.

Last week, the department of health enacted crisis standards of care at hospitals statewide to help manage the onslaught of new COVID patients. The surge is expected to peak next month.

The Board will also hear from Idaho higher education leaders about mitigation responses on campuses, and from the executive director of the Idaho School Administrators Association on K-12 operations and disruptions. The special meeting is for information purposes only. The Board will not take any actions.

The meeting will be carried via livestream on the State Board’s YouTube channel, and a link to that is available here. (Board of Ed)
