LC volleyball players take home weekly Cascade Conference honors

A pair of Warrior Volleyball players earned Cascade Conference weekly accolades after helping LC State to 3-0 record on the week.

Cassidy Nelson was voted the Cascade Conference WVT Laboratory Attacker of the Week, while Kenzie Dean earned Defender of the Week honors.

Nelson, a senior from South Jordan, Utah, led the Warriors with 43 kills across the three matches last week. She finished the week with an impressive .442 hitting percentage and also tallied six aces. The outside hitter had seven kills on seven swings against Walla Walla to begin the week, then added another 17 in the five-set victory over Northwest. Nelson then tied a season-high with 19 kills against Evergreen State on Saturday.

Kenzie Dean

Dean was dominant from the service line as well as in the back row. The junior from Athol, Idaho made 22 straight serves without an error against Walla Walla on Tuesday and had a career-high five aces in the process. The libero tallied 12 digs in the match before adding an impressive 21 on Friday. In Saturday’s victory over Evergreen State, Dean collected 18 digs and dished out six assists. She totaled eight aces, 13 assists and 51 digs over the week.

The LC volleyball team hosts a pair of Cascade Conference matches this weekend at the Activity Center. The Warriors meet Warner Pacific this Friday at 7 p.m. and Multnomah Saturday at 5 p.m.
