A Weippe man was killed in a log truck accident Wednesday afternoon along U.S. Highway 12.
Idaho State Police say William Jared was at the wheel of a 1995 Kenworth logging truck eastbound near milepost 24 at about 1:30pm when he drove off the right shoulder, came back onto the road, and crossed the center line and the west lanes.
The vehicle continued off the left shoulder, down an embankment and came to rest near the edge of the Clearwater River.
Jared, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The roadway was shut down periodically.
