Bedrock Fire Update and evacuation information

UPDATE, AUG 12: The Bedrock Fire near Lenore kicked back up and changed directions, and evacuations of River Road are beginning again, from the intersection of Bedrock Road to Lenore Grade on River Road, according to Nez Perce County spokesman Nick Woods. (Lewiston Tribune)

 

The Bedrock Fire burning near Lenore in Nez Perce County has grown to approximately 8,000 acres and continues to threaten homes and other structures in the area.

The Idaho Department of Lands along with many firefighting partners are battling the fire on the ground and by air.

Nez Perce County Sheriff Bryce Scrimsher and the county’s emergency management department have ordered evacuations for several areas near the Bedrock Fire, with additional areas warned they need to be prepared to evacuate.

Evacuation orders for “GO” include River Road-from Cherry Ranch Lane to Lenore Grade, Sunnyside bench road-to Hanks Grade, Cooks Grade, Cooks Hollow, Hanks Grade, Lenore Grade.

Those who need to be “SET” and able to leave on short notice include Cream Ridge Road, Sunnyside Bench Road to the Clearwater County Line.

Those who should be “READY” to go include areas on the North side of Bedrock Creek Canyon.

The fire is located north of Lenore in the Bedrock Creek Drainage and is at 0% containment.

Resources include fire crews from the Idaho Department of Lands, the U.S. Forest Service, Nez Perce County and the Nez Perce tribe and numerous local fire districts. 

A Type 2 incident management team is expected to take over fire suppression efforts soon.

The fire was first reported Wednesday at about 1 pm.
