More progress made on area wildfires

More progress is being made on area wildfires. The Snake River Complex of fires is at over 109,000 acres and is 87 percent contained. The estimated full containment date is August 15th.

As of Sunday morning, the total area of the fires in the Cougar Rock Complex are estimated at 8,079 acres with 61% containment after growing by 652 acres since the previous update.

Meanwhile the Dixie Fire remains at 42,039 acres. The fire continues to burn along the Salmon River to the south and has reached Jersey Creek. Fire crews are patrolling the river to assess needs for structure protection for private property, historic structures, and infrastructure. Fire personnel are actively working along many Forest roads both in and around the Dixie Fire Closure Area. If you are recreating near a closure order, be aware of higher amounts of vehicle traffic and/or fire personnel. Northern Rockies Team 5 assumed command of the fire this morning.

The Jumbo Fire remains around 2,750 acres. The fire sits at zero percent containment. The fire is burning well within the wilderness and is moving to the south towards the Salmon River. It continues to be evaluated for further actions from the air and on the ground.
