CORRECTED: Public health reports record number of single day COVID infections

Correction: The total number of new COVID-19 cases in the Lewiston School District Monday was two.

The Public Health – Idaho North Central District reported its highest single-day number of positive coronavirus cases Monday with 165 cases combined in its five county area.

Nez Perce County had the highest number with 77 new infections, with two being reported in the Lewiston School District. Superintendent Bob Donaldson imposed a mask mandate, effective immediately, at all Lewiston schools on Sunday.

Elsewhere in the district, Latah County had 41 new infections, Idaho County added 22 new cases, Clearwater County had 20, and Lewis County reported 5 new coronavirus infections Monday.

In southeastern Washington, Whitman County had 16 new virus cases, and Asotin County reported 11 new COVID-19 infections Monday.

There were no deaths attributed to the virus Monday and there were no reports of new hospitalizations in the region. (Lewiston Tribune)
