Poor air quality forces more school closures

The Moscow School District, University of Idaho and Washington State University canceled in-person classes and other activities today, because of air quality that is expected to be “very unhealthy.”

Citing the inability to open vents for circulation of fresh air within classrooms and concerns about students traveling to and from school or waiting at bus stops prompted Moscow School District officials to cancel classes for the second consecutive day.

Classes at U of I will be held online only through Wednesday. WSU, which is conducting all of its classes online this semester, announced that all campus events or activities scheduled for today were canceled.

A low pressure system is expected to move into the region Friday which could bring some rain showers that may help dampen wildfires and the smoke causing deteriorating air quality. (Lewiston Tribune)
