Lewiston Advises Masks

A previous version of this story incorrectly stated a mandate was in effect, the order is an advisory that was passed by the City Council on Monday evening 

LEWISTON — City Manager Alan Nygaard issued a mask advisory effective immediately, Wednesday, July 28th.

In the order, Nygaard said, “the risk of widespread community transmission throught the City of Lewiston impacts the life and health of the public and imperils public health by the person-to-person spread of COVID-19, and it is, therefore necessary to reduce opportunities for the person-to-person transmission of COVID-19 to combat the spread of the disease” 

Individuals and businesses within the City of Lewiston are urged to voluntarily comply with this Order. The City of Lewiston will make efforts to educate individuals and businesses to achieve compliance.”

The order will remain in effect until, “it is rescinded, superseded, or amended, or until the City of Lewiston Declaration of Local Disaster Emergency is terminated, whichever occurs first.”
